Philippine Capiz shells are named as such because they were originally harvested near the town of Capiz, on the island of Panay. Capiz Shell Art is entirely handcrafted. The natural white translucent shells are cleaned and cut to the desired size and shape. After that it is then baked in an oven and then hand molded. The final step in the process is hand painting then laminate with a polymer resin. The beauty of Capiz shell is the translucency, which allows light to pass through reflecting the colors of the shell. The critical part of this process is the Filipino skilled worker and artisan handcrafting the products. Maraming salamat po sa inyong pagtangkilik.
